For our favourite cotton pads we have used Rowan Yarns Summerlite 4ply in colours 422 - still grey, 418 - washed linen, 438 - sand dune https://www.beadandwoolshop.co.uk/rowan-summerlite-4ply.html

We used 4.5mm crochet hook.
Start with a loop and chain 2, 6DC into the first chain, join the round with slip st into first DC.
Round 2 - CH 1, 2dc into each DC (12 stithes), join with slip stitch.
Round 3 -ch 1, 2dc into each st (24 stitches), join with slip stitch.
Round 4 - ch1, 1 dc into each st. Join with slip stich.
Round 5 - ch1, *2dc into next stitch,1 dc into next stitch* repeat from *to* until end, join with slip st. Stitch in ends. Done!
Start with a loop and chain 2, 6DC into the first chain, from now onwards work increases as follows working in spiral
Puff version 1 –* 2dc in one st, 1 dc into next*. Repeat *to* until desired size achieved
Puff version 2 – 2dc into each stitch working in spiral until size achieved.
